Purpose

We invite adult voters of all ages to join the Buchanan County Republican Central Committee in its purpose of sharing information about national, state, and local Republican candidates for office as well as our party’s positions on essential political issues at all levels of government. We especially encourage young Republicans to become involved in our organization. It is essential that we articulate a traditional conservative message in a manner that will appeal to younger voters of all backgrounds. Therefore, we need the perspective of a new generation of adults, who can assist us in projecting our guiding principles to a wider audience in a new technological age without compromising the Constitution and the rule of law.

All members of our organization are eligible to participate in local, regional, and state caucuses during election years. This permits our members to engage in discussions that assist in directly formulating the Missouri state party platform as well as in nominating candidates supported by our party. At various times throughout each year we meet with potential candidates for office – before and during the primary and general election cycles. We conduct political rallies for Republican candidates at all levels of government. As a result, our members have an opportunity to gain first-hand knowledge of our candidates and the main issues that they advocate.

Historically, Republicans have supported the following political positions:

Decentralized government under the U.S. Constitution, including maintenance of the strict separation of powers as defined in that document by the Founding Fathers
Transparency and honesty at all levels of government
Accountability at all levels of government
Ethical oversight at all levels of government
Rule by law, not by men or women
Right to life for all people, including the unborn, the sick, and the aged
Traditional marriage between one man and one woman as created by God and advocated by our Founding Fathers
Protection of our rights as citizens under the Bill of Rights – especially the 1st Amendment and the 2nd Amendment
Protection of state rights under the 10th Amendment
Appointment of federal judges at all levels who will provide a strict construction of the U.S. Constitution rather than legislate from the bench
Sound economic and financial policies designed to reduce the astronomical and dangerous financial debt incurred by the U.S.
A strong foreign policy always conducted in the national interest of the U.S. and always committed to protecting the security of American citizens and our nation
Strengthening our national armed forces in order to enforce a strong foreign policy designed to protect all American citizens
Commitment to our military veterans by instituting policies that reform the Veterans’ Administration system and eliminate corruption within it
Renewing our support of our local and state police especially in the face of potential anarchy
Maintenance of a safe and secure border in order to protect the sovereignty of our nation from all enemies – foreign and domestic
Elimination of “sanctuary cities” in the U.S. by withholding federal funding of those cities if they do not comply with federal law
Development of all our domestic sources of energy in order to eliminate American dependence on foreign sources of energy
Reform of all tax codes – including reduction of personal income taxes and corporate income taxes
Ridding the Internal Revenue Service of its corrupt and discriminatory practices
Emphasis on school choice to assist all American children in securing a strong education
Return control of education to state and local school boards
Elimination of the Department of Education
Campaign Finance Reform to reduce corruption in elections perpetrated in particular by lobbying interests
Establishment of a National Voter ID policy to reduce voter fraud
Term limits for U.S. Senators and U.S. Congressional representatives to reduce the impact of lobbyists on both houses of Congress

Our organization is open to people from a broad range of political backgrounds. Among our members are lifelong Republicans, Conservative activists, Tea Party supporters, erstwhile Democrats, and brand new Republicans.
